SayWrite is built on excellent open work by other people. Here's what's inside, who made it, and the license each one is used under.
Speech recognition model
SayWrite's on-device speech engine runs NVIDIA Parakeet TDT 0.6B v2, a speech recognition model created and published by NVIDIA. SayWrite didn't train or build the model. It's used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0).
SayWrite downloads the Core ML conversion published by FluidInference on Hugging Face (about 465 MB), and the app names the model when you download it.

Open-source software
- Speech runtime: FluidAudio by FluidInference, licensed under the Apache License 2.0.
- Updates: Sparkle, MIT-style license.
- Keyboard shortcuts: KeyboardShortcuts by Sindre Sorhus, MIT license.
- AI models you run in Ollama or LM Studio are your own, under their own licenses. Apple's on-device model is part of macOS.
