Terms
Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and the independent developer who makes and sells SayWrite (“SayWrite”, “we”, “us”). By downloading, using or subscribing to SayWrite you agree to them. They're written to be readable; if anything is unclear, email support@saywrite.app.

1. Your license to use SayWrite
While your free trial or subscription is active, SayWrite gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use SayWrite on up to 2 Macs at a time that you own or control. SayWrite enforces this: turning it on for a Mac registers that Mac with your subscription, and you can remove or replace a Mac anytime in your account. Each additional Mac you want to use at the same time needs another subscription. Gift licenses aren't limited to a number of Macs. You may not resell, rent or share your license key, or get around SayWrite's license checks. SayWrite includes open-source components and downloads a speech model, each under its own license, listed on the credits page; nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licenses.
2. Free trial
14-day free trial. Card required; you won't be charged until day 15, and we'll remind you 7 days before. Cancel anytime in your account.
- You start a free trial by choosing the monthly or yearly plan on the pricing page and entering a payment card at Stripe's checkout. Nothing is charged when the trial starts. Every feature is unlocked during the trial.
- Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it turns into a paid subscription on day 15: your card is charged $5/month or $30/year (plus any tax shown at checkout) for the plan you chose, and the subscription then renews automatically as described in section 3.
- We (through Stripe) email you a reminder 7 days before the trial ends, with a link to manage or cancel your subscription.
- To cancel, sign in to your account with your email, or click Manage Subscription in SayWrite › Settings › License. If you cancel during the trial, you aren't charged and SayWrite stops working when the trial ends.
3. Subscriptions and automatic renewal
- A subscription costs $5/month or $30/year (US dollars, plus any tax shown at checkout).
- Your subscription renews automatically at the same price and interval until you cancel. Your payment method is charged at the start of each period.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Some purchases are sold through Stripe's reseller, Link; if your receipt says so, Link's customer terms also apply to the payment.
- If we change the price, we'll email you at least 7 days (and no more than 30 days) before the new price applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
- Yearly subscribers get a reminder email before each renewal.
4. Cancelling
You can cancel anytime, online: sign in to your account with your email (we'll email you a sign-in link), or use SayWrite › Settings › License › Manage Subscription. You can also sign in to Stripe's billing portal with your email, or use your license key on the pricing page. If you can't find your key, get it sent to your email, or email support@saywrite.app from the address you used at checkout and we'll cancel it. Cancelling stops future renewals; SayWrite keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for.
5. Refunds
You can get a full refund for any payment within 14 days of it. The details are in our refund policy. This doesn't limit any refund or withdrawal rights you have under the law where you live.
6. Your recordings and text
What you dictate is yours. SayWrite processes it on your Mac and doesn't send it to us (see the privacy policy). You're responsible for what you dictate and where you put it, and for following the law where you are, including getting consent before recording or transcribing other people.
7. Transcription and AI output
Speech recognition and AI rewriting can make mistakes: wrong words, names or numbers, or a rewrite that changes your meaning. Review text before you send or rely on it. Don't use SayWrite as the only record for medical, legal, financial, safety-critical or emergency purposes. Optional AI features use Apple's on-device model or AI software you install and run yourself (such as Ollama or LM Studio), which is under its own terms.
8. Updates and changes to SayWrite
We may update SayWrite to fix problems, add features or change how it works. SayWrite checks for updates if you allow it. If we ever stop offering SayWrite, we'll tell subscribers and refund the unused part of any prepaid period.
9. Disclaimer
SayWrite is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those in these terms, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, and we don't promise it will be error-free or work with every app.
10. Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, SayWrite isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or business, and our total liability for any claim about SayWrite is limited to what you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you, and nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived.
11. Ending this agreement
You can stop using SayWrite anytime. We may end your license if you seriously break these terms, for example by sharing or reselling license keys; if we do, we'll tell you why.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update this page and its date. For changes that matter to subscribers, we'll email you before they apply; if you don't agree, you can cancel.
13. Law and contact
Where you live may give you the right to rely on your local consumer laws and courts; these terms don't take that away. Questions: support@saywrite.app.
